Everyone else is creating their top 10 lists for 2006, why can’t I? All of these songs have serious replay value and lyrically, they offer that certain something special.
#10 Halo The Harpoon – The Stills
From Without Feathers
Just because it’s a good song and they deserve respect damnit.
#9 The W.A.N.D. – Flaming Lips
From At War With the Mystics
Quite different than most of their other music, but I dig it.
#8 Nostrand – Ratatat
From Classics
Starts with an electronic/synth style groove and finishes with a rush of guitar. Easy to rock out to this song.
#7 Here We Are (Family In The Hallways) – Appleseed Cast
From Peregrine
Caught on to these guys a bit late. This song represents the band well. Very catchy without the bubble-gum sound.
#6 Hello New World – Clipse
From Hell Hath No Fury
The lyrics are tight, but it has to be the beat that does it … so damn clean.
#5 Wolf Like Me – TV on the Radio
From Return to Cookie Mountain
Saw these guys at the Download Festival. Solid guitar rock. These single got my hyped on them for sure.
#4 Lovestoned/I Think She Knows – Justin Timberlake
From FutureSex/LoveSounds
Just stop hating. Even though it’s not “Indie-tastic”, Pitchfork gave this album a nice review. This is the best song on the album.
#3 In The Morning – Junior Boys
From So This Is Goodbye
I get a bit carried away when listening to this song at work. Infectious.
#2 That Teenaged Feeling – Neko Case
From Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Hearing this song live just did it for me. Her voice is just incredible.
#1 Daydreamin’ – Lupe Fiasco
From Food and Liquor
