I try not to do a lot of complaint posts or bitch-fests since, well, let’s be honest, I’m a middle-class white male. I’m blessed with a kind, smart and understanding woman for a wife and a handsome baby boy. Life is pretty good overall. I preface this post with that because from this point on, I’m going to complain. I cannot believe how busy I’ve been these days. Some of the errands, activities or tasks I accomplish are actually fun, others; not so much. Here is what I did today.
- Got up, got milk for the boy and lounged in our room for a few while he ate and Amy started to get up and ready
- Made Amy’s coffee, made my breakfast, then my coffee and had both in the kitchen while Elliot played and Amy was on the laptop
- Gave Elliot his nebulized steroids (During this treatment, I only had to hold down his arms while he cried for a minute or so)
- Amy left and I finished getting ready to get out the door to start my day, Queen of Heaven Cemetery was my first stop
- Visited my Mom’s site for a bit in Lafayette. Good talk Mom! Since this visit, being so close to holidays turned me into a blubbering mess, I decided to take a break
- Went to Genova Deli in Walnut Creek and had a great Roast Beef Sandwich with Kettle Chips and a Coke Zero
- Went to Best Buy in Union City to get a Canon Printer (our Espon took a sh!t) along with 4 gift cards
- Went to Starbucks to get 10 gift cards
- Went to Raleys to get the groceries that Amy couldn’t find at Trader Joe’s
- Went home and played with Elliot for a bit while Amy got ready for her Happy Hour with co-workers
- Helped feed Elliot a snack then we were off again
- Went to Safeway to get the 2 big jugs of white vinegar I forgot at Raley’s
- Went to Target to get Pajamas for each of us, diapers and other items
- Went to Cost Plus to try and get the gift that I could not find at Target (a set of 2 or 4 cappuccino cups is a rare find I guess)
- Came home and fed Elliot some yogurt, prepared his bottle and got him ready for bed
- Put Elliot down for bed and nuked some pizza for dinner, then ate the pizza while the bear cried
- Took out some garbage, put away the new items I acquired during my shopping trip and folded some clothes
- Installing (as I write this) the new printer I bought today
When Amy called while she was in transit to her piano lesson for Happy Hour, I told her about the rest of my day (everything after the 10th bullet) and she seemed surprised that I took Elliot with me on the shopping trip (just getting him in and out of the car that many times makes me tired). I told her, without a hint of sarcasm, that I’m done for the week. That’s it! I’ll change diapers, help cook Christmas Eve Dinner, but I am not going to take on too much for the rest of the week. It’s just ridiculous. Nobody should have to go this crazy with to-do items on any day. Alright, it’s all out there. All better.
